Introduction: This is a silly Mother Goose poem that may be familiar to many children (don't assume so). The idea of animals and inanimate objects doing outrageous things makes this poem humerous and well loved. This poem goes well with any Nursery Rhyme or Mother Goose Unit. Hey, Diddle, Diddle

Hey, diddle, diddle, The cat and the fiddle, The cow jumped over the moon. The little dog laughed To see such sport, And the dish ran away with the spoon. (Modern Publishing, 1996)
Extension: After reading this poem many times students may become familiar with it. It would be fun to use this for a presentation put on by the class using masks for specific characters. Maybe this could be a presentation for another class. |
